Applied Science SharePoint

Overview

The Faculty of Applied Science uses UBC's SharePoint software service is a web-based communication and collaboration platform commonly used for content management, collaboration, and streamlined communications. Units in thee Faculty of Applied Science are able to design and build their own UBC branded intranet or team site, which can be used by both internal or external colleagues.

  • Securely store important business information with appropriate backup and restore capability
  • Provide web-based access to all team members
  • Enable users to collaborate through multi-authoring and version control
  • Communicate more effectively using the most up-to-date web-based tools such as wikis, blogs and newsfeeds

  • VPN-Less (users can access the SharePoint site without having to first login to the UBC Virtual Private Network)

Requirements

At this time, only members with EAD accounts are able to use UBC SharePoint. External user access is available through sponsored accounts. Faculty and staff from the various units in the Faculty of Applied Science can contact their unit's main office to find their unit's SharePoint administrator. Units not currently using SharePoint can contact IT.Engagement@apsc.ubc.ca to inquire about using it.

Support for SharePoint is primarily through your unit's site administrator. They have been specially trained and know the most about your site, so they should be the first place you go.
